Welcome to Workshop
Presently, the world is highly concerned of the harmful impact of global warming due to burning of fossil fuels. Unless ways and means are explored to curb global warming, our life, our planet, and our children are all in danger. Also, today, there are more than two billion people who have not experienced grid electricity. In view of these alarming issues, many countries are embarking on utilization of renewable sources of energy like wind, solar, geothermal, tidal, etc, as an option to mitigate energy-crisis and to overcome catastrophic-effects of pollution.
Of the above renewable sources of energy, wind has become economically competitive. It is a clean source of energy. Wind power technology is proven and fully developed for both offshore and onshore situations. Modern wind turbines are available with 5 MW rated power. Today, the cumulative global wind power installed capacity has crossed 100GW mark and annual growth rate is about 25%. Germany, USA, Spain, Denmark and India are the top five countries in wind power development.
More importantly, Saudi Arabia is witnessing a major expansion in all industrial sectors and the energy requirements are increasing tremendously. In this regard, it is high time for Middle East in general and Saudi Arabia in particular to embark on utilization of wind power to cope up with the development pace.
