As we begin a new academic year at KFUPM, we also begin a new academic adventure – the launch of the new College of Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences. This new College with its distinctive industry engagement represents a major step forward in the history of the University. The changes that are occurring and that will occur are all intended to build strength in an already significant educational and research institution. You will immediately see some overt signs of the changes that are coming – new buildings are probably the most notable signs – but there are also some more subtle but probably even more significant changes that involve building capability at the University, and these include additional faculty, additional labs, and additional access to research resources, innovative academic and industry engagement programs, active partnerships with leading institutions, to name but a few. All of these changes are intended to increase the capability and stature of your College, and ultimately, to increase the value of your degree from it.
This website will be updated as we go along in building this enterprise and lead you on a voyage of discovery about the new College. Here, you can read about and hear from our faculty, researchers and students. You can also learn about our Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences Departments. The website for the Center for Integrative Petroleum Research (CIPR) is currently under construction and will be made available soon. There are amazing opportunities in store at the College, from stimulating classes, to research experiences, intensive industrial internships, and access to a truly world-class educational experience.
So as this new school year begins, I and all of the faculty and administration at the College and the University look forward to taking this voyage with you, to achieve our vision of this new College becoming a globally significant player in the area of Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences.
