The King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals is the highest ranked university in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with an enrolment of approximately 10000 students (about 5100 whom are full-time undergraduates, and over 700 are full-time and part-time graduate students). The university also has a pre-university preparatory year English language program (serving over 2000 students) and two affiliated community colleges offering non-degree courses.

The department of Safety and Security works to maintain safety and security of the University community and its properties by providing protection 24 hours a day. They also provide information about getting to and around campus and parking permits.
