Dr. Burhan Saifuddin
Dr. Burhan Saifuddin is interested in wide-band gap semiconductor fabrication, device physics, and engineering. In his doctoral and post-doc work at UC Santa Barbara, he studied AlGaN LEDs on a largely ignored platform (SiC substrates).
The presentation will describe the state-of-the-art metalo-organic thin film deposition (MOCVD) technology, and describe its applications in optoelectronics, power electronics, and potential new applications in quantum computation. The topics will also include developing deep-ultraviolet AlGaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on SiC substrates, with high light extraction efficiency.
