Presents a Seminar on Adventures in Thin-film Deposition and Optoelectronics Date: December 11, 2019 Time: 1:30 p.m Location: Auditorium, 4th Floor, Building 15 Speaker: Dr. Burhan Saifuddin Brief Biography: Dr. Burhan Saifuddin is interested in wide-band gap semiconductor fabrication, device physics, and engineering. In his doctoral and post-doc work at UC Santa Barbara, he studied AlGaN LEDs on a largely ignored platform (SiC substrates). Abstract: The presentation will describe the state-of-the-art metalo-organic thin film deposition (MOCVD) technology, and describe its applications in optoelectronics, power electronics, and potential new applications in quantum computation. The topics will also include developing deep-ultraviolet AlGaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on SiC substrates, with high light extraction efficiency. All faculty, researchers and graduate students are invited to attend |
