CENT invited Dr. Manuel Hoegerl, a Research Scientist from Baker Hughes at Dhahran Techno Valley (DTV) to deliver a seminar on the use of Nanotechnology in the petroleum and petrochemical industry on Tuesday, 24th of May, 2016 at the Research Institute Building (Bld 15), Room 5035. Dr. Manuel obtained his PhD from the Graduate School of Technische Universität München and worked at KAUST Catalysis Center before joining Baker Hughes. He is one of the leading scientists in the development of next-generation smart corrosion sensors for oil and gas fields. He is setting up a new high temperature-high pressure (HTHP) H2S corrosion sensing laboratory at Baker Hughes. In this seminar, he shed light on new areas and opportunities for nanotechnology research in the oil and gas field particularly increasing use of functionalized nanoparticles in the Shale oil & Gas recoveries and the use of nanoparticles in the drilling fluids. This seminar was part of the CENT’s active engagement with the DTV tenants.”
