All users of computing facilities on the KFUPM network have a responsibility to follow best practice in avoiding infection by computer viruses and worms. Viruses, Trojans and Worms are malicious programs that are easily spread across computers with email and internet access.

By not having the recommended antivirus installed, you are exposing your machine(s) to the following threats and liabilities:

• Identity theft
• Loss of sensitive information
• An infected machine will spread viruses to other machines in the network
• Compromised computers that are remotely controlled by hackers
• Your system may shut down spontaneously and frequently, even if you don't use it
• Your Internet connection slows to a crawl even while you are not doing anything significant
• Your computer seems to be displaying an inability to start (boot up) or taking longer than normal to start up
