Message from the Chair
 The
Department of Chemistry is one of the first departments
established at King Fahd University of Petroleum and
Minerals (KFUPM). It is committed to excellence in both
education and research in all areas of Chemistry. The
department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in either
Chemistry or
Industrial Chemistry. Our
Graduate Program is also one of the first to be
established at the university. Both MS and PhD degrees
are offered in the main traditional areas of Chemistry;
namely, Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and Physical
Chemistry as well as the specialized areas of Catalysis
and Polymer Chemistry. The departmental facilities are
equipped with the latest and most advanced
instrumentation needed for research. This includes 500
MHz NMR, FT-IR and Raman, GC-MS, ESR, X-Ray
Diffractometer, and Single Crystal X-Ray Diffractometer,
Atomic Absorption and Flourescence Spectrometers, ICP,
GC and HPLC units and so on). The dedication of our
faculty and the departmental support to research make
the chemistry department one of the leading departments
in research at KFUPM and in the region.
Through the Continuing
Education Services, the department is also very active
in offering
short courses
that serve the needs of industry, in both the public and
private sectors of the local and GCC communities.
