The Department of Chemistry at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals is seeking a dynamic faculty member to fill the position of Al-Amoudi Chair of Petroleum Chemistry. The chair is sponsored by Shaikh Al-Amoudi for an initial three-year term. The department has 23 full-time faculty members and hosts two undergraduate programs in Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry in addition to the graduate degree program that lead to M.S. and Ph.D degrees.

The objective of the chair is to promote and enhance the teaching and research capabilities in the Department of Chemistry KFUPM in the area of Petroleum Chemistry that include petroleum processes, catalysis in petroleum processes, upgrading, reforming, refining, conversion etc. etc.

The role and responsibilities of the Chair Professor is to:

·     Develop and strengthen our undergraduate and graduate courses in this area.

·     Develop professional courses in Petroleum Chemistry relevant areas.

·     Establish a research and consultancy group in collaboration with the existing faculty members.

·     Establish a research laboratory center in Petroleum Chemistry.

·     Promote the center and its consultancy services to local industry

·     Propose and lead research projects to solve the problems of the local Petroleum and Petrochemical Companies.

·     Supervise graduate students in various topics related to the above mentioned areas.

Qualifications:
The candidate shall have outstanding scientific background, wide experience in teaching and research in Petroleum Chemistry, successful consultancy experience with industry and have a commitment to excellence and be a visionary in the field. He shall have an earned doctorate in Chemistry or affiliated area, hold full professorial rank and have a proven record of achievement in the Chair area.

Salary and Benefits:
The chair will have three years contract with highly attractive tax-free salary, supplemented with end-of-service gratuity for each year of service, free furnished housing with free essential utilities and maintenance, and free medical care at KFUPM clinic.  Subject to university policy, the appointment includes the following additional benefits: round-trip air ticket to Dammam for the faculty and up to three of his dependents; tuition fees for school-age dependent children enrolled in local schools; local transportation allowance; two month paid summer vacation and free access to recreation facilities.  KFUPM campus has a range of teaching and research support facilities such as extensive library acquisitions and databases, computing facilities, smart classrooms, and research and teaching laboratories.  The campus is within a very short distance from the cities of Dammam and Al-Khobar.

King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals is a leading technical University in the Middle East. The University, with an enrollment of 8000 students, consists of six colleges. The College of Sciences offers five undergraduate degree programs, and the language of instruction is English.
