Presents Public Seminar
Edge computing in industry applications
Date: 12 February, 2020
Time: 03:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Location: Building 22, Room 134
The widespread of Internet of Things (IoT) combined with the rise of rich cloud services have prepared the horizon to a new emerging computing paradigm, edge computing, which stands for performing computations at the edge of the network. Edge computing calls to tackle multiple industrial concerns such as real-time needs, transmission bandwidth cost, battery life constraints and data security. In this seminar, Mohamad will introduce edge computing concept and address main drives behind adopting such model in the industry and academia. The talk will also cover several use cases and applications of such technology in multiple industrial segments.
Mohamad is the technical services consultant of Foghorn Systems responsible for providing technical consultations and support to local and regional clients. Mohamad has extensive experience in data analytics and IoT deployments to solve a wide range of technical and business problems. Prior to joining Foghorn, Mohamad has served as a Systems and Data Analyst with Saudi ARAMCO managing structured and unstructured data of the Upstream oil & gas industry. He has multiple papers published in refereed journals and conferences in big data analytics applied to oil and gas industry. Mohamad holds a BSc degree in computer engineering with first distinction from KFUPM and MSc degree in computer science from KAUST.dfv
All faculty, researchers and graduate students are invited to attend.
