This presentation will demonstrate the design of linear controllers for Boeing 747 aircraft based in linearized lateral and longitudinal models. To tune controller parameters (such as the gains of PID controller), Matlab Control System Designer will be used as a tool which has user friendly interface with graphical and automated tuning methods.
A demo will be illustrated to explain what meant by aircraft longitudinal and lateral dynamics followed by the linearization of nonlinear models. Then, the controllers will be design to achieve desired system behaviour. Finally, the linear controllers will be implemented on linearized models and nonlinear models to compare their responses.
Mr. Ali received his BS of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic at Cardiff University, UK, and his master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering at University of New South Wales, Australia. Now Ali is pursuing his PhD as part-time student in Systems Engineering Department at KFUPM.
