In the conventional Service Parts Logistics (SPL) models, the facility locations and their levels are optimized such that the replacement of parts occurs upon their failure. The original SPL model is recently extended in the literature to account for condition-based replacement of parts. The parts' degradation, its failure, and replacement, based on degradation levels, are modeled using a continuous-time Markov Chain (CTMC). The part's replacement events along with the spare parts inventory levels and locations are jointly optimized. The model developed is a mixed-integer non-linear optimization problem, and it is solved using GAMS. The seminar will discuss the recent SPL problem along with the model development. Besides, it will share the model analysis and computations through an illustrative example.


Speaker Bio:

Mr. Ibrahim Alrajeh is a graduate assistant, and he is attending a thesis-based master's program in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at KFUPM. After obtaining his bachelor's degree, he worked for Saudi Aramco for six years. His research areas of interest include optimization, stochastic systems, business operations and analytics, and transportation networks.
