Abstract:
Due to neoteric evolution in the urban transportation systems, more electric vehicles (EVs) are penetrating the market. One of the major challenges is allocating EVs to the optimal charging station (CS). In this seminar, I will talk about several combined optimization models to assign EVs to the optimal charging station based on the SDN communication framework in the smart city. The objective of this design is to allocate the EVs to the optimal CS while maximizing the trading energy and minimizing the total response time. Therefore, the traveling distance, charging (V2G), and discharging (G2V) energy trading, total response time starting from the request time ending with leaving charging station time, and energy price are considered in this design. Finally, I will discuss the simulation results to show the effectiveness of the combined models.
Speaker Bio:
Engr. Mohammed Algafri is a research assistant in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at KFUPM. He obtained his bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering from KFUPM and currently studying for his master's degree. His research interests include EVs, Transportation and Logistics Systems (Modeling and Optimization), Artificial Intelligence, Multi-Objective Optimization, Metaheuristics Optimization Methods, Sequencing and Scheduling, Decision Making, machine learning, supply chain, and operations research.
