Presents Public Seminar
"Solving Discrete-Time Stochastic Decision-Making and Optimization Problems"
Date: Wednesday, February 1st, 2023,
Time: 02:30 PM – 03:30 PM
Location: Bldg. 22, Room 132
Dr. Ali Nasir
Control and Instrumentation Engineering Department, KFUPM.
This talk covers a range of methods for solving discrete-time decision-making problems with and without optimization. Specifically, we shall discuss planning, constraint satisfaction problem formulation, Markov decision processes, and Partially observable Markov decision processes. The talk shall briefly describe each method, discuss some of the existing research that utilizes these methods, and the scope of these methods in future research including the new developments in terms of theory and applications.
Dr. Ali Nasir obtained his PhD along with M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in the USA. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila. He is the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship for MS leading to a PhD. He is currently working on distributed control of multi-agent systems and human intent prediction. His research interests also include Approximate Dynamic programming, fault-tolerant control, and nonlinear control and estimation.
All faculty, researchers and graduate students are invited to attend.
