"Nested Interruptions Policy for
Urgent Care Units"
Date: Wednesday, 27th Nov, 2019
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Building 22, Room 130
Speaker:
Dr. Haitham Saleh
Assistant Professor
Systems Engineering Department
King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals
Abstract:
Interruptions are the phenomena
that exist and appear in many places in life; they appear everywhere in every
kind of activities either in doing personal activities daily or in doing
complicated activities and processes in complex systems in industries. The role
and the effect of interruptions have begun to appear a lot significantly in the
industries in the last few years especially the ones that related to job interruptions
in businesses. Interruptions are considered as a request for a change in
process, job, think, direction, move or just for a short period of pause; these
interruptions have the potential to carry treasured information that can allow
people to control and manage activities in incredibly dynamic environments
successfully. Urgent care unit (UCU) is one of the dynamic environments that
bring on a significant amount of interruptions. A design of experiment (DOE)
model is initiated as a seed to explore and comprehend the nature of the nested
interruptions phenomena at UCU.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Haitham Saleh is an Assistant Professor in the Systems Engineering
Department at KFUPM. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Industrial and
Systems Engineering from KFUPM and a Ph.D. degree in 2018 from the School of
Industrial Engineering at Purdue University, USA. His research interests
broadly deal with dynamic systems as decision support systems in healthcare
engineering, including statistical learning, mathematical modeling for
operations, human performance modeling, and distributed human supervisory
control.
All faculty,
researchers and graduate students are invited to attend.
