Abstract: JavaScript is becoming the assembly language of the web. The current version of JavaScript is referred to as ECMAScript5 (ES5). It is as cryptic as the x86 assembly language. Thus, it is now mainly a target language not a source language. A JavaScript program can be now written in TypeScript and Trans piled to JavaScript. TypeScript is the next version of JavaScript. However, we can use it now. In this talk, the history of JavaScript is reviewed. Then, the need for a new language like TypeScript is motivated. Finally, some examples are given to show the power of TypeScript. Biography: Dr. Yahya E. Osais is an assistant Professor in the Computer Engineering department.
