Picture6.pngProf. Abdulaziz Al-Saadi is the Dean of the College of Chemicals and Materials at the King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). The college was formed under his deanship after the restructuring of the former College of Science. Prof. Al-Saadi received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from KFUPM in 1997 and 2000 respectively, and his Ph.D. in Molecular Spectroscopy and Computational Chemistry from Texas A&M University, USA in 2006. His research interests lie in the fields of vibrational chemistry and computational chemistry. Prof. Al-Saadi joined the faculty of KFUPM in 2006, later served as a Chairman of the Chemistry Department (2014-2018) and is continuing his journey with KFUPM as the Dean of College of Chemicals and Materials.

Picture7.pngProf. Khalid Alhooshani is the Chairman of the Department of Chemistry at KFUPM. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of South Florida in 2005, M.S. in Chemistry from the Florida institute of Technology in 2001 and a B.S. from King Saud University in 1994. Prof. Alhooshani continued his postdoctoral experience under the directions of Dr. Emma Goslan at Cranfield University in 2013, Prof. Robert H. Grubbs at Caltech in 2011, Prof. Lee Hian Kee at National University of Singapore between 2006-2010. Prof. Alhooshani’s research focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of porous nanomaterials such as metal-oxides nanoparticles, modified-carbon, mesoporous silica, zeolites, hybrids and metals supported for use in adsorption, catalysis, and extraction for clear water and fuel.

Picture8.pngDr. Jameel Althagfi is the Chairman of the Department of Bioengineering at KFUPM.Dr. Althagfi obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 2001 and 2004 respectively and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from York University, Toronto in 2014. His research interests lie in the synthesis of metal complexes, homogeneous catalysis and applications of computational chemistry.Dr. Althagfi began his career in KFUPM as a Lecturer in 2004, became an Asst. Professor in 2014 in the Department of Chemistry and also served as a Chairman of the Life Sciences Department (2017-2021).

Picture9.pngDr. Hassan Baaqeel is the Chairman of Department of Chemical Engineering. Dr. Baaqeel earned his B.Sc. Chemical Engineering from University of Alabama (2001), MBA Project Management from Open University Malaysia (2009), M.Sc. Chemical Engineering from University of Manchester (2010), and Ph.D. Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University (2018). His research is in integrated process design and operational optimization using tools and approaches such as process integration, process simulation, process intensification, and mathematical optimization.

Picture10.pngDr. Turki Baroud is the founding chairman of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at KFUPM since 2021. He led the effort to establish a new B.S. degree in 'Materials Science and Engineering', one of its kind in the region. Dr. Baroud obtained his B.Sc. (2010) and M.Sc. (2012) in Mechanical engineering from KFUPM. Dr. Baroud received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Emmanuel Giannelis, Vice President for research and Innovation, from Cornell university in 2018. His research focus is on pushing the boundaries of science and technology with newly designed materials for clean water and sustainability. Special focus for developing porous functionalized membranes for desalination and water treatment, and non-precious electrocatalysts for renewable energy and CO2 conversion.
