Topic: Making the
Leap from the Lab to the Market Place:
Developing scientists and engineers to be successful
entrepreneurs
Summary:
Training a new generation of engineers and scientists to
recognize and develop new technologies and to take the
technologies to market is a challenge faced by many
countries. The Xerox Centre
for Engineering Entrepreneurship & Innovation
was established by the Faculty
of Engineering at McMaster University to do just that. Its
objectives are:
-
To help students and organizations develop their ideas
into successful new products or services within existing
companies, large or small, and to spawn new commercial
enterprises.
-
To provide students with the opportunity to learn and
practice new ways to effectively commercialize new
technologies.
-
To provide the skills and knowledge necessary to
transform technical expertise into commercial success.
-
Promote the commercialization of technology-based
innovation in Canada and around the world.
