Universities around the world are increasingly being
asked by governments, society and their students, to assure the quality of
teaching and learning. In many cases this has led to the development of
performance indicators and quality assurance systems for teaching quality.
This workshop will describe an evidence-based quality
assurance system for teaching and learning, which takes as its starting
point a well-researched theoretical perspective on student learning in
higher education. It will outline the theoretical perspective and principal
features of quality assurance strategy, systems and processes, and describe
how the teaching quality assurance policy and systems can be implemented.
Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss how they
and their university approach the assurance of the quality teaching and
learning and use evidence of teaching quality to plan improvements.
