The recent advances in Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) have greatly affected the way we
communicate and the way we learn. Consequently, educational institutions working for excellence,
must prepare for changes and continuous development through the efficient utilization of ICT to improve
their educational process. The past years have witness a great effort from these institutions to
benefit from ICT and the recent information technologies and internet in spreading knowledge and
deepening the scientific concepts and also in reaching out to a larger number of learners. This
type of education, which involves ICT multimedia, is known as e-learning.
e-learning is characterized by its flexibility and efficiency in presenting the content. It also
provides different channels of communication and interaction between student and instructor.
Moreover, recent studies and statistics indicate an increase in utilizing the e-learning in higher
education institutions. However, compared to the traditional education successful e-learning requires
adoption of a specific educational model. This in turn will need changes in the traditional teaching
methods and the employment of new education strategy and resources, in addition to new assessment and
evaluation methods.
