Global Learning Initiative at KFUPM

What is the Global Learning Initiative?

The Global Learning Initiative (GLI) is the name that KFUPM gave to an initiative in which KFUPM classes are connected to classes in other peer universities worldwide with video-conferencing equipment.

The idea of the GLI is to have students share their thoughts and ideas, practice effective communication skills, think of different issues at a higher level, and promote their cultures in a positive way.

The GLI simulates a mini study abroad program, in which students benefit in ways that cannot be attained by traditional education.

Are you interested in trying the GLI?

If you are, this is what you need to do:

  • Contact faculty members from other universities. Your best option would be to contact people you collaborated or studies with in the past.
  • Agree with them on the topics to discuss
  • Agree with them on a tentative period and time to hold your GLI session
  • Provide us with the name and contact information of the person on the other end, and the approximate time you plan to hold your GLI session

We will take care of all technical arrangements, will do room reservations at KFUPM for your session, and will test the connection with the other university multiple times before your session to ensure that your session is successful.
