Mission:

The mission of the Serials Department is to support the academic research and teaching programs at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals by acquiring and processing serials resources and maintaining accurate accounting of the expenditures of these resources.​

The Serials Department is responsible for all functions related to obtaining and making periodicals available, including: receiving, processing, claiming, assisting in preparing invoices for the business office, binding, shelving, holdings lists (alphabetical and subject), title changes, physical weeding, shifting, and maintaining holding records in the library's online catalog.

Serials include journals, magazines, newspapers, yearbooks, e-journals, and series. 

All periodicals (i.e., paper format and bound) are located on the third floor of the library.

The Serials Department subscribes many thousands journals in electronic formats.​
