Basic Definitions

ABET, incorporated as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, is an organization that accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. .
During Academic Year 2015, a designated team from ABET visited KFUPM to evaluate its programs.  The team was composed of experts in academic and industrial areas. The team conducted its visit to KFUPM and submitted its recommendation to ABET, based on the new criterions adopted by the Agency for programs outside USA, contrary to system that was prevalent before the year 2007 when accreditation was granted as equivalent to ABET standards only.  During this visit, the Chemical Engineering (ChE) and Applied Chemical Engineering (AChE) programs were accredited for six years (till 2021).
