Purpose of the System
The Deanship of Research (DSR) over the past few years launched a comprehensive work to gather information about the available labs & equipment at the university. This has resulted in establishing accurate databases for equipment and an establishment of a reservation system, which allows faculty to reserve and use equipment. With all of these efforts, there is a need to develop a system that allows easy transactions, whenever an equipment is being used. As of now, there is no clear mechanism for using equipment and no way of easy payment.
Moreover, there is no record of utilization of equipment or a priority, as we believe those who are using their research money should be given a priority to using equipment. The concept of equipment sharing in a sustainable and collaborative way is missing as it has not been articulated well into the minds of our researchers.
