Various design phases leading to a practical engineering solution. Feasibility study, preparation of specifications, and the methodology for the design. Detailed design and implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Course Objectives

  • Design a complete system that integrates software and hardware components in a unified application that serves certain needs.
  • Plan and execute a project plan.
  • Work better within a team.
  • Effectively document and communicate their design efforts.

Topics Covered

  • Current existing engineering problems related to Computer Engineering.
  • Evaluation of different solutions from different perspectives.
  • The Engineering Design Process; Needs Identification, Requirements Specification, Constraints, Standards, Concept Generation and Evaluation, System Design, Functional Decomposition, Behavioral & Structural Models, Project Plan, Cost Estimation and Breakeven point analysis.
  • Methods of integrating and interfacing software and hardware.
  • Professional Skills; Team work, Project Management, Decision making using analytical hierarchy process, Ethical and professional issues, Communication skills.
