Catalog Description
Various design phases leading to a practical engineering
solution. Feasibility study, preparation of specifications, and the methodology
for the design. Detailed design and implementation, testing, debugging, and
documentation.

Course Objectives
- Design a complete system that integrates software and hardware components
in a unified application that serves certain needs.
- Plan and execute a project plan.
- Work better within a team.
- Effectively document and communicate their design efforts.
Topics Covered
- Current existing engineering problems related to Computer Engineering.
- Evaluation of different solutions from different perspectives.
- The Engineering Design Process; Needs Identification, Requirements
Specification, Constraints, Standards, Concept Generation and Evaluation,
System Design, Functional Decomposition, Behavioral & Structural Models,
Project Plan, Cost Estimation and Breakeven point analysis.
- Methods of integrating and interfacing software and hardware.
- Professional Skills; Team work, Project Management, Decision making using
analytical hierarchy process, Ethical and professional issues, Communication
skills.
