Research Collaboration between KFUPM & Georgia Tech Research Corporation (GTRC)
 
Vision:                                                                                                                        
KFUPM to be the Hub of Seismic Signal Processing  
 
Mission:
  • To advance the theory of signal processing with the focus on geo signals and seismic data. 
  • To develop best education practices in engineering. 

Objectives:
  • ​Develop advanced seismic signal processing algorithms that generate efficient industry standard techniques in the exploration process.
  • Produce a generation of experts in this field to lead in both academia and industry.
  • Produce significant products in international magazines, journals, and technical meetings.
  • Develop engineering education by developing new courses/labs whole education experience.

Activities So Far:
  • A Research workshop (June 21 -22, 2010), decided to focus collaboration on the main topic: Geo-Signal Processing and Analysis
  • A number of undergraduate students spent one semester at GIT as part of Study Abroad Program (Falls of 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013)
  • Many exchange of Visits between GIT and KFUPM officials 
  • Formation of an Executive committee at KFUPM and GIT
  • Signing of the official agreement in August 4, 2012.
  • Two official workshops were held: one at KFUPM in December 2012 and the other one at GIT in June 2013.
  • Two projects are starting: one educational project and research project. 
  • Many projects are in the pipeline.
  • Working on the outreach programs.
