The students of the capstone senior project for Dr. Kamal Harb visited King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) on 27 April 2013. The trip touched the practical and educational experience. The main purpose was to expose the students to different aspects of technological developments notably related to the new advances in satellite technology. The students were able to attend a presentation on KACST’s new implementation, project, and design. The presentation detailed the design aspects of the satellite and demonstrated to the students how KACST’s personnel were able to save cost during the design phase of the satellite. The students were also able to witness Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) platform in the satellite simulation room. Dr. Al-Suwaidan and his colleagues at KACST were kind enough to demonstrate the platform to the students. The students were also able to visit the CNC fabrication shop and see the software development efforts of KACST’s among other things.
