Office Ergonomics Guidelines

The purpose of this guide is to:
Identify if the computer workstation is setup in a manner that fits best for your work, providing a comfortable workspace in the office.
Avoid addressing particular workspace injuries.

A list of certain commonly used words and their definitions are given below:
Ergonomics:
The science of studying people at work and then designing tasks, jobs, information, tools, equipment, facility, and the working environment so people can be safe and healthy, effective, productive and comfortable.
Musculoskeletal Injury (MSI):
It refers to soft tissues injuries like injury in ligaments, tendons, and nerves from exposure to awkward, position, repetitive motions, and forceful exertion.
Signs and Symptoms of MSI:
The signs include tingling, tenderness, numbness, swelling, unreasonable fatigue, pain, & difficulty in movement of certain body parts
MSI risk factors:
- Force
- Posture
- Repetition
Stretch:
Activities and body movements performed to increase the range of motion (ROM).
