Pollution Prevention

KFUPM as an educational institution is very committed to preventing generation of emissions and effluents inside campus or beyond KFUPM boundaries that may arise from any undergoing activity in campus. Pollution prevention along with waste minimization is our top priority in order to avoid or at least to minimize the generation of pollutants. By preventing emissions and effluents into the air, water or soil, specific benefits that can be enjoyed by KFUPM community are:

• Cleaner air and water.
• Less solid waste in landfills.
• Conservation of natural resources.

Accordingly, through inspection visits (regular and un-scheduled visits) and awareness activities, EHS department is working on implementing the pollution prevention concept. Any activities related to building constructions, maintenance, workshops, and domestic waste handlings on campus are some of our focus points, and we are working closely with the concerned departments to minimize or avoid the creation of pollutants.
