
Dr. Mark Thompson, Assistant Professor of Middle East Studies, presented at the third seminar organized by the Department of General Studies this academic year on 18th December 2012.
This presentation discussed Dr. Thompson’s research in Saudi Arabia related to the ‘National Dialogue’ process, which is the subject of a forthcoming academic book due for publication in 2013. The presentation looked objectively at the dialogue process in the Kingdom drawing on primary research material from individual interviews and focus groups throughout Saudi Arabia. It also examined the activities of the National Dialogue Center from 2003 to the present day. In conclusion, the presentation discussed a number of empirical findings that resulted from this research as well as considering the future role and direction of the National Dialogue Center and the dialogue process.
The presentation was followed by a productive discussion involving faculty members and students.
