China’s Foreign Policy in the Middle East

Dr. Ashraf Singer, Assistant Professor of International Relations, presented at the third seminar organized by the Department of General Studies this academic year. This presentation discussed and analyzed China’s foreign policy in relation to different crises that have occurred in the Middle East. It also examined the issue of whether China will play an active role in the Middle East or maintain a low profile approach. Dr. Singer’s presentation was divided into two sections: a) the foundation of China's foreign policy; b) the implications of the future of China’s foreign policy and relationship with the Middle East. In addition, as part of the presentation, Dr. Singer discussed quantitative research methods that can be utilized to analyze the current Middle East political environment, in particular the crises in Syria and Iran, in order to comprehend and predict China’s long-term Middle East policy goals.
The well-attended presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session that contributed to a productive discussion involving faculty members and students.
