Dr. Hisham Khogali, Assistant Professor of Psychology, presented at the fourth seminar organized by the Department of General Studies this academic year on the 18th of March 2013. Dr. Khogali’s presentation was centered on the question: Is KFUPM's counseling experience internationally competitive?  In order to answer this question, the presentation’s dual purpose was firstly, to introduce and discuss KFUPM's student counseling experience, and secondly, to benchmark some of its prime components in relation to current international trends. Dr. Khogali’s presentation argued that globalization intensifies the need for adopting more effective practical methods for coping with academic study problems, stress and burnout amongst undergraduate students.  In addition, the presentation discussed whether prevailing methods for dealing with KFUPM students’ social and psychological problems match the requirements necessary for effective student development. In conclusion, Dr. Khogali mapped out a future path for the counseling service that emphasized adopting a positive approach for future development.
