The internationally renowned KFUPM academic Dr. Mohamed Ramady presented at the sixth seminar organized by the Department of General Studies this academic year. Dr. Ramady is the author of the seminal work “The Saudi Arabian Economy: Policies, Achievements and Challenges”. Dr. Ramady’s thought-provoking presentation focused on challenges and opportunities confronting the Saudi economy and how these relate to contemporary Saudi societal issues and problems. The presentation considered the historical, current and future performance of the Saudi economy in national, regional and global contexts as well as highlighting key areas of relevant interest to KFUPM faculty and students. In the Saudi socio-economic context, Dr. Ramady stressed the need for greater accountability and responsibility and encouraged KFUPM students to think about their own contribution to future national development.

This well-received presentation prompted a series of interesting questions from the capacity audience. These were addressed by Dr. Ramady individually and subsequently discussed by faculty members and students.
