The Information and Computer Science Department is organizing a public seminar:

Title:                    Know your enemy: Defending Against Web Attacks
Speaker:             Dr. Sami Zhioua, ICS Department

Date:                   November 27th, 2013

Time:                   2pm -3pm

Location:             Building 20, room 103

Summary:

Firewalls, Antiviruses, operating system security, and the latest patches are all powerless to stop a new generation of attacks that are increasing in frequency and sophistication: Web Attacks. The Web has become the primary vector for infecting computers. The web developers themselves, are barely aware of the extent of the threats to their sites and the fragility of the code they write.

In this seminar, we illustrate the most common threats that responsible web users should be aware of. We provide defenses against these attacks at two levels: client side (for general web users) and server side (for web developers). For maximum awareness, live demos of attacks and defenses will be carried out during the seminar.
