Dear CCSE Community,
You
are all cordially invited to attend this week’s three seminars by
our CCSE graduate students. The seminars will take place December 17
at 2:30 pm in Building 22: Room 119. This week’s
seminars are:
Seminar 1
Title: Comparison of Attack Mitigation
Techniques for Economic Denial of Sustainability (EDOS) attack in Cloud
Computing environment
Abstract:
Economic
Denial of Sustainability (EDoS) attack in cloud computing is considered one of
the main security issues that prevent many organizations from migrating its
services to cloud computing environment. Because this kind of attacks targets
the financial constraints of the service provider who rents his resources from
Cloud Company. Many researchers in the recent few years tried to eliminate EDoS
attack. But, they failed to prevent it completely. Alternatively, they proposed
some mitigation techniques that can reduce the influence of this attack. In
this talk, I will present the methodology of five existing mitigation
techniques for EDoS attacks, then I will give a tabular comparison that
includes the pros and cons of each technique.
Speaker:
Mr. Omar
Maraqa
Bio:
Mr. Omar
Maraqa is a M.S. student in Computer Networks, Computer Engineering department
at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals(KFUPM), earned his B.S. degree
in Communication and Electronics Engineering from Palestine Polytechnic
University Hebron-Palestine 2011. His research interests include Energy
Efficient Cellular Networks, Cognitive Radio and Security concerns in
Cloud Computing .
Seminar 2
Title: Gender-face classification using Gabor filter
Abstract: Human face is one of the most
important biometric that contains more information including gender, race, and
age. Identifying human face gender from images is a challenge that has been
extensively studied because of its relevant applications. Several approaches
have been used to address this problem by specifying a suitable features. In
this study, we apply Gabor filter on each image to generate 18 different
filtered images and extract features from these 18 filtered images. Several
classifier techniques are used in this study and we obtained good result.
Speaker: Mr. Ebrahim Alwajih
Bio: Mr. Ebrahim Alwajih is
a master student at Information & Computer Science department, Fahd
University of petroleum and minerals. He holds a Bachelor of Computer Science
from Hodeida University, 2007. His research interests are focusing on
Bioinformatics and machine learning
Seminar 3
Title: Privacy Notices, Notice and Choice
Abstract: Different approaches have been
proposed in the last two decades for internet privacy. There is still a debate
between the websites technicians and the industrial people about how to define
and manage it. Many questions are needed to be answered and to be agreed about
it, before we decide what are the global and suitable guidelines to manage this
online privacy. What are the most appropriate models to choose, and how to
guarantee privacy for normal user in the cyber-space. In this survey paper, we
will explore different approaches and what are the challenges for making better
privacy policies.
