Abstract
Universities
and other educational institutions are continuously looking for technologies
that can provide flexibility, cost-effectiveness and easy maintenance to
develop their educational environments. VDI, which is stand for Virtual Desktop
Infrastructure, is considered as one of the cloud technologies by which the
educational environment can be improved. This technology has many features and
it can help students and faculty members accomplishing their tasks and saving
their times as well as facilitating the accessibility to the requested virtual
desktops they need either using their devices or the educational organization’s
devices anywhere anytime. In the presentation, the differences between VDI and
Network Desktops will be identified. Also, VDI models for undergraduate
students and graduate students will be introduced.
Speaker’s Bio:
Mr. Saleh
Alyahya is currently a master student in ICS department at KFUPM, and he got
his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in 2004 from Al-gassim University.
His interest is in cloud computing and virtualization.
