Topics covered include: nature and propagation of light; image formation-paraxial approximation; optical instruments; superposition of waves; standing waves beats; Fourier analysis of harmonic periodic waves and wave packets; two-beam and multiple-beam interference; polarization; Fraunhofer and Fresnel diffraction; holography; lasers.
