Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy
Speaker:
Mr. MOHAMMED IBRAHIM ALALI
Date: Monday, 21 November 2022
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Location: Bldg. 6/Room 125
Abstract:
laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a growing technique that can be used for rapid non-destructive elemental analysis, where it requires minimal to no sample preparation with the ability of multi-elemental analysis, and it allows for in situ or remote monitoring and analysis. The seminar will discuss the fundamentals of LIBS, which includes basics concepts of plasma physics. It will also include a literature review and applications, along with the pros and cons of LIBS compared with other techniques.
The influence of PVD parameters on the thin film growth
Speaker:
Mr. KAMORU WAHEED SANJO
Date: Monday, 21 November 2022
Time: 11:25 a.m.
Location: Bldg. 6/Room 125
Abstract:
Thin film growth by PVD RF sputtering method is highly influenced by many parameters such as processing gas flow rate, reactive gas flow rate, and growth time for generating a quality and high-performance thin film for optical, electronics, medical and solar cell applications. Surface thickness was investigated as a function of deposition rate, substrate bias, and operation pressure, and the growth defects were studied using X-ray diffraction and Electron Diffraction spectroscope. The study showed that high-thickness thin film is primarily depending on the processing gas flow rate and growth time
Short Bio:
Mr. Sanjo graduated from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, in Nigeria and is presently a master's student at Physics department KFUPM. Presently, working with Dr. Khan Alam on Thin film growth and Analysis related projects. Research Interest is Experimental Condensed matter Physics.
All faculty, researchers and students are invited to attend.
