Physics deals with the study of natural phenomena originating from matter, motion, and energy.
DOUBLE MAJOR
MSc Physics
MSc Medical Physics
Medical physics is an applied branch of physics concerned with the application of the concepts and methods of physics to the diagnosis and treatment of human disease. The main areas of medical physics are the treatment of cancer by ionizing radiation (radiation oncology), diagnostic imaging with X-rays, ultrasound and nuclear magnetic resonance (diagnostic radiology), diagnostic imaging with radioisotopes (nuclear medicine) and the study of radiation hazards and radiation protection (health physics).
PhD Physics
The Department offers Ph. D. program in the following major areas of physics:
Physics Diagnostic Test
Beginning term 131, the Physics Department plans to conduct a Physics Diagnostic Test (PDT) for all present and incoming Physics Graduate students. The purpose of the test is to identify students’ deficiencies so that the Department can advise them accordingly on how to remedy them before they graduate. The results of the PDT will not affect students’ Grade Point Average. Nonetheless, students will be required to take the test. The PDT is the same as the exam that our senior students will be required to take when they graduate with a Bachelor’s degree.
