 Abstract

Blind Signal Separation (BSS) is the data separation problem that often arises as a typical pre-processing step in the practical data analysis. The problem can be stated as the separation or identification of original data from a given mixture of data. The BSS problem without any further assumptions is intractable. Even the linear version of the BSS problem suffers from uniqueness and identifiably. A traditional approach to solve the BSS problem is the famous Independent Component Analysis (ICA). ICA approach is based on the statistical independence assumption. Developing the BSS solution methods based on new/alternate assumptions is the current critical requirement in the area of data analysis. This talk presents some novel BSS solution methods based on the structural assumptions.

 

 

 

 

Speaker

Dr. Mujahid N. Syed is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Systems Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He has obtained his PhD in Operations Research from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Florida. His areas of research include mathematical modeling and solution methods, optimization methods in data analysis.
