Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry

The course will introduce the basic aspects of Mass Spectrometry and Gas Chromatography. The integration of these two analytical techniques (GC/MS) will be introduced with special emphasis on the recent developments and industrial applications of GC/MS. The course will involve theoretical as well as laboratory sessions. Course outlines are: 1. Theory of mass spectrometry 2. Instrumentation of mass spectrometry 3. Recent developments in mass spectrometry 4. Applications of mass spectrometry 5. Theory of gas chromatography 6. Column selection in gas chromatography 7. Instrumentation of gas chromatography 8. Conventional gas chromatography 9. Capillary gas chromatography 10. Integration of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS) 11. Experimental techniques in GC/MS 12. Recent development of GC/MS 13. Industrial applications of GC/MS
This course is designed for laboratory technicians, chemists, engineers and technical managers whose concerns are quality control of chemical processes.
