Description:

Today hydraulic circuits are used extensively in practically every branch of industry. Such circuits are commonly utilized in the fields of petroleum, petro-chemicals, power plants, material handling, cement plants, automobiles, aviation, marine, construction, agriculture, food processing, transportation, mining, steel industry, chemical production, metal working, repair and maintenance workshops, etc.  This course aims at fulfilling a demand for a better know-how in the area of hydraulic valves and circuits.  The course is a fully integrated program covering components of hydraulic systems.  During this course, participants acquire knowledge of how various hydraulic components and valves function, and how they work together in a complete circuit.  Components studied include positive displacement pumps, actuators (motors and cylinders), accumulators, intensifiers, and all types of simple and compound valves.  Relief, unloading, counterbalance, over-center, pressure-sequence, pressure-reducing, flow-control, directional-control and other types of valves will be dealt with.  Graphical symbols conforming to ISO standards and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) specifications will be introduced and then used to develop circuits suitable for many applications.  Moreover, control, maintenance and trouble shooting will be dealt with.

Who should attend:

The course will be of benefit to managers, engineers, technicians and personnel involved in the purchase, operation, maintenance, control and design of plant or machines which are hydraulically powered or which contain hydraulic equipment.  There will be no specific entrance requirement for the course, but some knowledge of elementary fluid mechanics is preferable.
