The course provides a thorough understanding of several important aspects of the Internet and the WWW. Topics to be covered include: Internet Services, Communicating and Retrieving Information, Web page design using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), Common Gateway Interface (GCI) programming, ASP (Active Server Pages), Web Authoring Tools (Frontpage etc.), Installation of Web Server, Advanced Web Applications, Interface to Database Management System (DBMS), and strategies for Web security. The coruse includes an intensive lab. component.
The course is targeted towards a wide class of computer users and application developers, computer/software engineers, LAN/system administrators, managers, etc., with sufficient computer literacy. Basic knowledge of computers is sufficient to take the course.
