The course covers TCP/IP protocol stack in relation to the Internet/Intranet. It also covers clients/servers programming, and network administration issues. It covers monitoring the network traffic and configuring the networking under TCP/IP. These subjects are supported by a number of hands-on demonstrations. Main topics are: (i) Review of networking technology (ii) Internet architecture and inter-connection (iii) Protocol layers (iv) Internet addressing (v) Details of Internet Protocol (vi) User Datagram Protocol and Services (vii) TCP Protocol and Services (viii) Application Layer Protocols. HTTP and DNS
This course is targeted to benefit managers, programmers, administrators of networks, and casual internet users. It will also be of interest to network application developers. Rudimentary background about computers and networks is assumed.
