PVT and Phase Behavior of Reservoir Fluids
College of Applied Engineering Petroleum Engineering
The course is primarily aimed at the development and application of reservoir fluid information in reservoir studies, production operation and recovery processes. The common experimental procedures to generate PVT data, such as constant volume depletion, differential liberation, and separator tests, as well as those simulating other recovery proccesses, such as gas injection, miscible displlacement and gas cycling, will be explained and critically reviewed. Compositional modeling of the phase behavior and the equation of state development for application in reservoir simulation will be presented. Methods of fluid characterization and the required extent of such studies for various fluid types and processes will be reviewed. Various techniques to reduce the computational time, particularly for integrated reservoir-surface simulation, will be presented. The use of laboratory measured data to evaluate/tune reservoir fluid models and their dynamic valdation using reservoir simulation will be discussed. The course includes ample worked examples.
Reservoir Engineers, Production Engineers and engineers involved in the analysis and evaluation of oil and gas PVT samples, and modeling of phase behavior of reservoir fluids.
