The course is designed to cover the main
aspects of basic chemistry with emphasis on the subjects
taught at the secondary schools level in the Kingdom. The course will include a
review of the main
concepts of the selected relevant topics and the skills in solving the relevant
numerical problems.
Course outlines are as follows: 1. Mole and chemical stoichiomertry 2.
Electronic structure and periodicity
3. Chemical bonding 4. Solutions, chemical reactions and calculations
related to concentration 5. Chemical
Equilibria 6. Acids, bases, pH and its calculations 7.
Thermochemistry 8. Oxidation, reduction and
electrochemical cells 9. Organic chemistry: Functional groups and polymers
