Welcome to the Educational Services website. The Deanship of Educational Services is the umbrella for Continuing Education Programs, the Preparatory Year Program, the English Language Center (ELC), and Physical Education.
Through the Continuing Education Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals offers short-courses to the community at large. Around 90 short-courses are offered each year in various fields of interest with around 1600 participants enrolling each year. In this way, local institutions benefit from having participants improve their skills while the University benefits from having their instructors address the local scientific and technical needs of the community.
Each year, the English Language Center welcomes over 1,500 students from all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia into King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

The Orientation Year Program is seen as a bridge to the University, helping the new students sharpen their English and mathematical skills before beginning their Freshman courses. In addition, students also receive instruction in mechanical and electrical workshop and physical education.
Each student beginning the Orientation Year Program receives the following schedule: English: 20 hours per week; Math: 4 hours per week; Mechanical Engineering (Shop): 2 hours per week; Physical Education: 2 hours per week.
The English Language Center has over 80 faculty. Around 60 are instructors in the Orientation English Program, with around 20 teaching writing courses in the University English Program. In addition, there are around 20 Physical Education instructors teaching in the Preparatory Year Program as well as university PE courses.
The ELC is equipped with modern educational aids, making extensive use of audio/visual laboratories and computer-aided instruction. The student computer labs are equipped with over 90 PC terminals and are open throughout the school day to allow students to access various teaching software programs.
Professional editing services are also provided by the ELC through the University Editing Board, which edits English documents written by professors and lecturers at KFUPM submitted to be published in professional journals and periodicals.
