Orientation English Program (OEP)
The
objectives of the Orientation English Program (OEP)
are as follows:
A. building
an adequate technical and sub-technical vocabulary;
B.
developing the necessary skills in reading, listening, writing and speaking,
including:
-
tolerance of ambiguity and use of minimal
redundancy in a message or situation;
-
use of non-prose materials (diagrams, charts) to
anticipate and interpret written materials; and
C. developing and improving grammatical
competence.

punctuality;
-
the importance of attendance as a minimal
requirement for success in a university or
job;
-
the importance of following University regulations
and getting familiarized with the departments concerned with these regulations (the
Registrar, Student Services, etc.);
-
priority setting and planning;
-
working under pressure for a sustained period of
time;
-
introduction to and familiarity with library and
its potential;
-
the academic programs available in the
University's colleges;
-
understanding and following instructions;
-
taking objective exams;
-
following the format requirements of written
assignments;
-
reinforcing the
concept of academic integrity; and using the computer for typing and word
processin
