Information for Current Graduate Students, how to develop your personal webpage and how to use WebCT for teaching labs.

 
 

 

Creating Your Personal Webpage under KFUPM domain:

KFUPM is providing space for personal webpage to all graduate students, please find below guidelines to register for web space, develop and upload/publish the webpage.

 

Registration for Web Space:

Graduate Assistants and Lecturer-Bs should visit the site http://faculty.kfupm.edu.sa/web/newuser/ and then enter username as itc\username and your internet password. After login, fill the registration form correctly, and wait for few days to get confirmation email from ITC web administrator.

Research Assistants and Part-time students will register to the site, http://staff.kfupm.edu.sa and login as itc\username with internet password.

 

Developing Your Webpage:

A webpage template has been attached with the email, either you use this template or you design yourself your personal webpage. If you are using the attached template, please unzip this sample blank webpage into a folder, then open the files using Microsoft FrontPage, add your information and details correctly.

 

If you like to design your own, then note that ITC web server is not fully compatible with other web designing tools such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Expression, etc. It is highly recommended to use FrontPage to develop and publish your webpage.

 

KFUPM fully complies with International Copyright Laws, one must not upload/publish any copyright material on his webpage.

Using WebCT for Teaching Labs:

By default, every Lab instructor has WebCT with students list. You are encouraged to use WebCT to share lab material, lab grades, etc. with your students. Please find below more details of how to login and use WebCT.

 

Users can log on and access CE 8 using one of the following ways:

 

  • KFUPM Portal: Login to KFUPM Portal and click the "Academics" tab. Click the link "My Courses Page in Blackboard CE 8" which opens CE 8 in a new window.
     
  • Through CE 4: Login to CE 4 through its login page (WebCT link available on the KFUPM homepage). Click the link "My Courses Page in Blackboard CE 8" under "Institutional Bookmarks" area on the page on which links of your courses are given.

 

"My Courses" page is the first page a user sees after logging on to CE 8. Links to resources for instructors and students are available on the page to learn about how to use CE 8 and for further information.

 

  • Instructor Resources: Faculty members can click the "Instructor Resources" link in the "Campus Bookmarks" area to access the instructor resources. This includes "Frequently Asked Questions" and an online guide on how to add and use various CE 8 features for teaching.
     
  • Student Resources: Students or any user can click the "Student Resources" link in the "Campus Bookmarks" area to access the student resources. This includes "Frequently Asked Questions" and an online guide on how to work with various CE 8 tools as a student.
