Ph.D. Entrance Examination

 
 


 

The Entrance Examination is given every semester unless the Graduate Program Committee decides to postpone it. Ph.D. students must take the examination not later than the end of the second semester of their stay at KFUPM.

This is a two part written examination:

Part 1 of the examination is based on the undergraduate courses. The student is required to answer 4 questions selected from:

  • Electromagnetic EE 340
  • Electronics EE 303
  • Energy and Power EE 360
  • Digital Logic Circuits EE 200
  • Control Systems EE 380
  • Communications EE 370

The selection must include EE 303 or EE 340 or both.
 

Part II  of  the examination  is based on the graduate course. The student is required to select 3 out of the 6 courses for this examination.

  • Communications EE 511
  • Control Systems EE 550
  • Electromagnetic EE 530
  • Electronics & Devices EE 545
  • Energy and Power Systems EE 520
  • Digital Systems EE 501

In  order  to  continue his  Ph.D.  program,  the  student  must pass  both  parts  of this examination. In some cases, however, an oral examination may be required.
