Welcome to the web site of our department. It was founded in the year when the University was established (1963). Moreover, the University's name, "Petroleum and Minerals", implies part of the Department's activity in producing geologists and geophysicists who can contribute to the exploration of these two essential commodities. Since its foundation the Department has been taking the lead in participating in the development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through qualified graduates (geologists and geophysicists) who can serve the country in both the private and government sectors. The Department offers the Bachelor degree in Geology and Geophysics and Master's degree in Geology. Diversity and competency in the Department's programs allow its graduates to work in major oil and mineral industrial organizations as well as in other institutions requiring geological, geophysical and hydrogeological studies. Saudi ARAMCO, ARGAS, Schlumberger, the Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, and the Ministry of Agriculture & Water employ many of the Department’s graduates. Some graduates work for the Ministry of Education, or choose to continue their higher education in earth sciences.

Laboratories and teaching facilities in the Earth Sciences Department are comparable to their counterparts in the most reputable Universities of the world. These facilities allow our students to acquire better skills and make them enjoy a modern scientific environment. Through this web site you will be exposed to some of the features of Earth Sciences.
